Case Study
From stranded to in control
A major electronics business was stuck on a platform that was losing support. I moved them somewhere built for learning, configured it country by country, and scaled a team to convert the content at pace, picking up the modules the client could not get to.
The client
We built our entire training programme on a platform that was never really made for learning. Now the company behind it is pulling support. We have to move, and we cannot afford to lose what we have got.Me
How settled are you on what the learning itself needs to do?The client
Completely. We have run this for years. We know our learners, our content, exactly what we want it to achieve. The problem is not the learning. We are stranded on the wrong platform.Me
Then we leave the learning alone and move it somewhere built for it. Who are you supporting? The client
We run it from the UK, across a lot of European countries. And they are not interchangeable. Some differ because of local law, others because the market genuinely works differently. We do not want one generic platform translated into different languages.Me
Then you will not get one. I will find a platform that can be configured country by country, not just translated, and work with the provider to set each one up the way it actually needs to work. The client
There is the content too. Six hundred modules, in a lot of languages, all trapped in the old system. We are rebuilding them in Elucidat. We will convert half ourselves and you take the other half.Me
Good. Give me two hundred, keep two hundred, and I will scale a team to exactly that and no more. The client
How did the split work out in the end?Me
We finished our two hundred quickly. When we checked in, you had completed fifty of yours:
- So we took another two hundred.
- Next time we looked, you had added fifty more.
- So we took the last hundred as well.
The client
And it all had to work in every market.Me
It did. Content built in more than eleven languages, with the platform configured to match, country by country. The whole move, platform and content conversion, took between eight and twelve weeks. The outcome
Three years on, the programme is still running and still working. The client has grown into it. Their business has moved on, their learners have changed, and now, knowing exactly what they want, they are choosing their next platform from a position of control rather than crisis.
